Get to know me
Why did you pursue a career as a photographer?
Having my fourth (and final) child Anika really inspired me to jump in and have a go at making my dreams a reality. I absolutely loved being pregnant and becoming a mother has been one of the best achievements in my life. When Anika came into our lives, I experienced an urgency to capture all of her first moments as it was going to be the last time we were going to go through this wonderful experience.
My love for the art of photography and my desire to help others capture these treasured moments is what has inspired me to become a photographer
What type of camera do you shot with?
I have a Canon 80D body which I’ve owned for a number of years. However, more recently I’ve started to use my husband’s full fame Canon 5DSR and it has now become the primary camera.
Which is your favourite lens?
My favourite lens would have to be my Sigma Art 50mm prime F1.4. This lens is perfect for the style of photography I do and I love the ‘bokeh’ effect it has on my images.
What is your favourite subject to photograph?
This has definitely changed over the years. When I was fresh out of school it was all about snapshots of friends and family out and about using the old film cameras. I then became more interested in landscape photography whilst travelling around Australia and overseas. Then I met my husband who was an avid landscape photographer and I purchased my first DSLR camera. We did a lot of remote area travel together and would often be up at dawn to capture the best light. I started to get into the technical side and really started to delve into and play around with photography.
Since becoming a mother my interest has evolved into capturing those many precious moments in time of my family and friends. I have four beautiful little babies, my eldest Tahlia who is six, Cooper who is four, Skylar who is two and baby Anika who is four months old. My children and husband are definitely my favourite subjects to photograph, as they are forever changing.
What inspires you?
It’s these images that capture a moment in our lives, documenting them in a way that tells the story you can relive over and over in the years to come. Capturing and sharing these stories is what inspires me and is why Jade Clarke Photography was created.
