Mermaid Cake Smash

I was so excited when Hayley’s mum contacted me to request a Mermaid theme Cake Smash to celebrate Hayley’s first birthday. This is not a theme that I had done before, but was super excited to tap into my creative side and put together the perfect scene to showcase little Hayley. The stunning little mermaid outfit was custom hand made especially for this shoot by a very talented friend and it was absolutely perfect! After doing the shoot I couldn’t wait to upload and start working on the photos, and I am so happy with the results.

I prefer to minimise props so as to keep your precious little one the star of the show and I feel like that was definitely achieved here. Hayley was a little sleepy to start with, but as soon as the cake was placed in front of her she was all about it! It was so much fun watching Hayley have a messy blast with her cake; it was two full hands full to the mouth for most of the shoot. After the cake was smashed into little bits, we finished off the session with a little milk bath to clean up all that yummy goodness.
